The Countdown Continues

I thought the Aerostat was going to be launched this morning for only the 2nd time since January 20th, but it never did. Not a border patrol plane but a good way to look at the border I guess. He flew over the house this morning. Date to pick up the VW was confirmed yesterday, Directv disconnect and install scheduled today on the phone for May 7th. Hounds and the dog's medical shot record printed out and in briefcase as well as my letters of credit from each utility company in hopes of eliminating any deposits required for setting up new service. Things are right on schedule. The border "incidents" continue locally on a daily basis. It is really amazing how this place has changed so quickly.

This was on my table for lunch yesterday when I was trying a restaurant for the first time since I moved here. I hear from others it's the same at a few other food and drink establishments.

At least it is sunny today in the "Wild West".

    1. the housing market is drying up fast. Home up to 235K are only 8 today. That does not count houses being constructed. There is a mass increase from California and New York. My new neighbor if I were to stay is from San Diego. Met her yesterday during their house inspection while Walter and I were moving the trash can from the curb to the side of the garage.

  2. Wonderful photos of the hounds and a dog along with the beautiful desert countryside. Soon you will have new vistas to photograph and share. Looking forward to seeing your new environment. Safe travels and take care.

  3. Things have certainly changed fast in so many ways. I was at a locally owned big hardware store yesterday to pick up some screws. Could not believe the prices. One 5 gallon bucket of paint was $439 and there were several others over $200. The cost of bringing anything from overseas, or across country has skyrocketed because of the increased freight charges in all areas. The cost of living is going to catch up to all of us before long. Glad to see you're making good progress on your move. You will probably notice increased gas prices and spotty "out of gas" signs. We are seeing some of that here, on a limited basis. Have a good trip.

    1. Thanks Russ. Yes shipping charges are outrages. My dog food finally increased in price by $3 as expected. I have gas stations marked out and have double checked that those I am stopping at are open 24/7. I even called one to confirm. LOL. I love driving cross country so I am looking forward to this trip like I did in June 2019.

  4. The Gov called out the NG... we're all at risk in what used to be a nice and peaceful place to live.

    1. Saw part of the news conference on tv before they cut away. NG will be administrative only ... but that allows the agents to get back to do what they were doing along the border. Carjacking attempt on Monday night at Miller Canyon, luckily the girl in the car and her friends escaped to call 911. I still have not heard of those they were chasing were caught.
