I thought while I was taking a break between tasks on my constantly changing "daily" to do list, I'd catch everyone up on what I've been doing as well as a lot of photos of the hounds and the dogs. Yes, Walter made an appearance outside today, it is that nice of a day.
I told myself last spring as I was doing the annual money expenditure on topsoil and grass seed, that this summer watering the yard was cheaper than topsoil and grass seed. So far after two hot months and watering just enough to keep grass, weeds, clover and the crabgrass green ... it is proving to be cost saving.
My two supervisors seemed to have everything under control while that small area of lawn was watered. The setting was set so the water would stop at the edge or near the edge of the patio and go back the other direction. That kept Henry dry during his hour nap.
With the Pioneer League nearing the end of their season and only a few more home games at Bosse Field, my friends and I attended a couple of games the last week of their home stand.
After five years Walter is finally figuring it out that I might leave for 15 minutes or 6 hours .. but I will always come back. Thus his anxiety attacks with him getting his rubber bone to chew on are decreasing if he has any at all.
I've had the AC turned off now for a couple of weeks due to the great weather. When it was on, Watson always made sure he was keeping cool after his lunch and a nap.
Ava is getting bigger by the day. Her training is still taking hold as she has not been barking at the neighbors at the fence, nor the UPS man as he walks on the porch to deliver a box. I was discussing with a friend the Sunday I took her to get euthanized due to her aggressive behavior and was reminded ... if I had not gone that Sunday to have that done, I would have never met the lady standing outside with me as we waited for the vet to open ... she gave me the name and phone number of the dog trainer that had German Shepherds. I had never found this trainer in my internet searches or on Facebook searches in previous searches.
Second to the last home game of the year. Not bad seats for free tickets that my friend picks up at YMCA.
I have been very busy with my daily to do list. I would not say I am hyper with energy but I never get tired now, don't get sore the next morning and can work for most of the day on different things I wanted to do last spring before all the heart work in June.
The other day thought I might do a total re-arrangement of the great room before college football starting on Thursday but ended up with this. The hounds and Ava were not thrilled with the new position of the dog bed and crate so I moved both them back to their original position. They were happy with that decision.
Remember the two large pots of palms that were damaged when Ava knocked one of them over and the other decided it didn't want to live and grow anymore? I was going to throw both of them out months ago but when I saw some green starter shoots coming up I decided to keep them, water them and see what would happen.
Well the other day I trimmed the brown off the tips of their leaves and cut out only the roots of the good plant to put both of them into smaller pots. The pots might be too small but again, I will see what happens. the Bourbon barrel was moved from the great room where the bookshelf now stands out to the garage and is used as a stand.
I wasn't real clear on how this pacemaker I now have was configured. This is a pretty good visual description and after seeing that ... I wasn't so sure I wanted or needed to see that. I liked it better when I wasn't sure how it was configured.
Patched the hole in the bedroom wall from when I fell during the night. Most likely tripping over a hound on my way for a drink of water. I had paint that matched the bedroom color.
I also decided painting over three patches that once had screws holding photos in my old bathroom was better with the dark gray paint I did not like. I found out I did not have that dark gray paint in the garage paint cabinet but I did have a lighter shade of gray that the master bathroom was painted in before I moved in. So I painted the older, smaller bathroom with the lighter gray paint and then cabinet from black to New York Yankee blue.
Cleaned the walls, door and door jams of the mud room. The hounds and Ava can now eat and drink in a clean room.
The cleaning and sorting of the shed and garage was done I think around my last blog post, the first week of August.
I have the urge to trade cars again. It's been 15 months ... why not ?? LOL
Well it's a quiet Sunday after 14 hours of college football on tv Saturday. I ended up going back to Directv last week to get all the channels I needed to watch all the different games. I quit them last August after using them for 20 some years. Now their streaming stick and with their remote, they say is just as good a picture quality as using their satellite plus cheaper for the same channel package. It was truly tested yesterday. I'd rather have the satellite program ... and may changed to that as soon as tonight.
I hate streaming tv.
The hounds and dogs are all asleep in the middle of the afternoon. I need more water and a glance to see what the next thing on the list is. It's never ending but at the same time a lot is getting done. I am finding out that heart failure most likely led to my lack of motivation for getting things done.
I almost forgot to post today's photos ....
A beautiful day here in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana.

Projects are good!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're moving back towards the old (younger?) you since the heart stuff. That's great!
Thanks. It's great to be able to do things without being short on breath.
DeleteNice post and happy to hear you are feeling well and have lots of energy. Nice to get things marked off the to do list. Great photos of the gang and I think the yard is looking better.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about the yard this morning while sitting on the patio. Compared to my neighbor's backyards, mine looks pretty healthy ... although yesterday afternoon I saw I had been attacked by moles. More tracks than I had ever seen including those up north at my other house.
DeleteWalter's first photo cracked me up. They all look so good. Even Cletus, no more ribs showing. Happy to hear Ava is doing well with her behavior. That chance encounter was serendipity for sure.
ReplyDeleteWalter needs to get out more. He spends too much time snoozing in the computer room during the day. It is nice not to see or feel the ribs of Cletus.
ReplyDeleteAll of the crew look good and so does your back yard. Nice seeing Walter outdoors and he always brings a smile to my face.

At least the backyard is green but it is a wild mixture of different types of grass, some clover and too much crabgrass. Walter is a neighborhood favorite although he doesn't go on walks. They seem him sitting in the driveway watching me get the mail across the street or at times out in the side years if I am pulling weeds. He likes everyone.
