I cannot get over how well Cletus is settling in here. He came housebroken and I had a test for him today. I needed groceries plus a run to
The Donut Bank to buy some celebration pastry to eat. I was gone for almost an hour, where I left him and all the adult hounds, and dog in the house with access to the backyard. When Ava saw me getting ready to leave, she grabbed her Nylabone and went into her crate without any command.
It did not surprise me when I walked into the house from the garage I didn't see any damage. No plants pulled down to the floor, books were still on the kitchen table as well as my Nikon camera. They all headed out to the garage to help me bring in the groceries. Cletus met me at the door wagging his tail.
We had a short game of fetch late this afternoon and Ava did what she always does ... barks for me to throw the ball, runs with Watson to the ball but lets him get the ball. I cannot believe how much bigger she has gotten in just the last three days.
Cletus couldn't quite figure out what was going on but he ran after the ball but had zero interest in getting the ball. Watson is finally getting friendlier with him. I caught them playing together yesterday when I glanced out the window.
Most of the day today while the hounds and dog played, then slept, I was tuned into the tv to hear all the political experts express their thoughts about what went on last night. I was extremely happy to wake up this morning around 4:15am to see the results. To me it was not a surprise. I regret that I didn't go down to the casino and place a bet on it.
Cletus loves his dog bed and Ava loves her crate. They have other spots where they like to sleep during the day but these are two of their favorite places.
Musical chairs on the sleeping positions.
Now this was a first. Cletus wasn't even phased when Ava climbed aboard. She is probably giving him one of her tests just to let him know that she runs the house, inside and outside. She wanted to check his reaction I am guessing.
IMO, along with millions of others, we dodged a bullet last night and it sure is nice to see how quiet the opposition is today. Not to brag but I made enough money in the stock market just today, the dogs and hounds will eat free for the next 12 months. LOL.
IU basketball game tonight. Trash is set out at the end of the driveway for an early morning pick up. Walter and Cletus are both snoring in the computer room. Ava is asleep on the couch, Watson is sound to sleep in the middle of my bed with Henry sleeping in my seat at the end of the couch, where I would have sat to watch the ballgame.
Hard to believe how nice the weather is in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana this first week of November.
A donut is high on my list as a comfort food. Good to celebrate with donuts ! Great news the crew eat free for the year. Way to go !
