Time Pass We Do Nothing - Lots Of Photos

Time is flying and I cannot believe it's been five days since my last post here or on the new Wordpress Blog. That is an entirely different blog than here, no stories, rants or losing it ... just a paragraph of content and some photos. I might do that here tonight because honestly there has not been much going on. I went out to the Brown Canyon Ranch house but got no further than the trailhead parking lot because the road leading there was gated. Enjoy the photos.

No worries, all is well in the "Wild West".

Blogger Is So Frustrating

I can't say that things have changed much in the past three days. I haven't found the urge to crawl out of this funk I have been in lately where every day is the same and no desire to do anything to change it. Maybe it's just old fashion laziness. It is still raining most afternoons although not every afternoon. Tucson tv weather tells me they are setting records for all time highs and temperatures this summer have been 10° warmer than normal. As I write this at 4:16pm, it just dropped below 101°. Consequently the hounds have fallen in love with cold air conditioned air as much as I have.

I see blogger is acting up again as I hit the enter key and fly to the bottom of these photos that I loaded all at once, as I always do. Normally I'll hit the enter key and go to the next line but not today. I hate these new blogger designs. Yes I can go back to the old dashboard style and do it the way it works but why put off the suffering starting permanently on September 1st ... unless the move that date again.

Walter and Stella will follow me from room to room most of the time and are back asleep within seconds. Heidi is good and will spend most of the day back on her dog bed not bothered by me changing rooms, walking to the bathroom or the refrigerator. She just sleeps until woken up for lunch. She assumes this same position when I take an afternoon siesta.

What the hell is blogger doing??? Very very very frustrating trying to put a post together when it sends me to the bottom of the page each time I am starting a new paragraph under a photo or hit return to go to the next line. Like now.

Now back to the seat gripping story of our days. If I were to decide to head to the bedroom for a full siesta any time of day, those two sleeping giants will wake up in the living room or computer room and fall right back to sleep next to my bed and blocking the doorway. In fact that is the same place they spend the night. Luckily I have a bathroom I can use to the right of this photo, for my nightly trip(s). I'll see you, I am now clicking the 'return' key and will end up at the bottom of the page. I have zero patience for crap like this.

I forgot to mention whenever you see Walter sleeping in any photo you can add the loudest snoring imaginable. I mean he could rattle my windows by the volume he snores.

By late afternoon Heidi has barely moved. She will wake up though if she hears any king of food being prepared or opened in the kitchen. I think she has a hard time hearing most of the time except when it comes to food.

I apologize ... I can't do this anymore today .... I'll make the photos a little bigger but that is all I can do from here on out. Maybe these kind of issues is a reason I have not blogged as often. Every time I try to blog on Blogger there is something new that doesn't work. You can check out my new blog on the sidebar though or just click here. Old photos, different format ... you know that when I get bored or frustrated I start making new blogs.  LOL

Also the photos are not going to be evenly spaced today either because blogger will not let me delete that extra line space it is adding when I hit the 'enter' key.

Between Blogger doing it's own thing and Wordpress no longer lets you load multiple photos in a single file all at once, I wonder at times why I even try to blog ... just to frustrating, especially when you cannot contact support or get an answer. I hate bots, blog support, and a bunch of other things right now but I'll keep my mouth shut. Eating has been my stress release lately and that is never a good thing.

Thunder and lightning right now here in the 'Wild West'.

A View Or Privacy ?

The day started really early ... like 2am early. I had just woke up to the noise of Heidi's tags as she was shaking her head. That is not only an alarm to wake me up but to start the walk down the hallway to the patio door so she can go outside. All lights are turned on along the way so she can see better. Yes, I can tell the difference as she gets older. She needs the lights on. About the time I was closing the door, Stella and Walter walk into the kitchen wanting to go outside for their short trip ... no problem.

From 2:10am until 3:15am Walter was snoring at loud volume. Loud enough that I could not get back to sleep. Then from the computer room I hear a notification which turned out to be a text from a friend three hours ahead of me. I figured that since I was wide awake anyway, why not get up. The daily routine started around 3:20am after being awake for over an hour. When the sun came up, the sky was full of overcast clouds ... no rain is in the forecast today.

{Blogger is acting weird today}

A lot of news to read online plus a few things I was thinking about here at home. Of course after the hounds were fed, they wandered into the computer room and went back to sleep. It did not matter to them how much earlier I had gotten up to start the day or what led me to that. I had no real plans for the day but I did have the urge to hit the local roads for some possible photos. Maybe a hike and definitely a trip to the store to resupply the kitchen shelves. {I only accomplished the trip to the store today plus a siesta}

I am not sure what Walter was thinking about in this picture. Could it be that Stella wouldn't play with him because she was asleep? Or was it me not wanting to wrestle with him for the hundredth time yesterday? Whatever it was, he looked like he was in deep thought. I thought he was sleeping when I took the photo but saw his eyes were open after I downloaded it.

I have too many good watch dogs in this neighborhood. A German Shepherd down the street always barks when it sees people walking on the sidewalk across from his house. It's on a cul-de-sac so it's a little further away than just across the street. I can hear him bark throughout the day or night when somebody is getting their walking in. Across from him are three to four tiny dogs in the backyard of their house that attack every walker that passes their house in front ... even when I walk by with Stella and Heidi you would think they are coming through the fence after us. The must go inside once their owners return home from work.

Add in the watch dog right next door, that does his job so well that if anything moves 24/7 that he feels is near his yard or house, he goes into the barking attack mode. He is the one that stands up on the garden ledge inside his fence then jumps over my concrete fence into my yard. I have a feeling that he has claimed the backyard of the hounds as his yard.

It raises the question ... Which is more important? A great view or privacy and quietness?

Another Visit To See The Pups

I arrived this morning for my 2nd puppy visit, about the same time as I did a few weeks ago. All 10 were sleeping because they had just finished breakfast. I quietly stepped into their box and found a seat on the shelf that went around the box. My pup was one of the first ones to wake up. I tapped him first by petting his head, then he woke up and realized what was going on. He walked over to me and I picked him up to talk. This picture is the way I left him, he was sleeping soundly.

I had hoped to take more photos of him this time and I got a few in. I was too busy petting and holding any of the pups that walked over to me for attention. I tried to take one while I was holding him but it was too close and didn't turn out well enough to look at. He is not the biggest in the litter but I was told he was the first one born. He will be mahogany and white, the same color as Winston ... with one little difference that is pretty cool.

Here he is wondering who is waking him up. I was just getting him use to what he will feel when Walter press his chin into him to walk up. That is how Walter wakes up Heidi or wants me to give him something.

The one major difference for a mahogany and white pup, they are usually just two colors but the breeder thinks he will keep his black tail. By this age you can usually tell what colors are going to eventually change. All the puppies did not shy away from getting some attention. Of course they have done a good job training them to use the doggie door, and they are socially adjusted with a lot of attention with the kids and their mom. A lot of pretty puppies in this litter.

The one to the right is the whitest basset hound I have ever seen. She was the first female chosen. He is sound to sleep but will Walter's loud snoring keep him awake???

I was too busy holding puppies during the time they were playing, running around and wrestling.

It looks like the water dish I have now will work. I might have to go back to two water dishes but they usually want the same one, just like a chew toy or bone. Like all the other hounds I have had over the years, they each have gotten their own Mexican blanket when they arrive. His is picked out and on the shelf ready to be used. I have a feeling that he will want Heidi's bed instead.

Yes all three were sleeping with their heads on the water bowl. A little later that mahogany and white had it's nose drop into the water while it was sleeping. He was able to blow a few bubbles in the water while creating before water came back up his nose. Then he went right back to sleep.

As you can tell by the shoestrings some didn't think they should be tied and they pulled them out into a knot. I hid the others on the right foot because two puppies were determine to chew the plastic tips off.

As I was leaving one of their calves started to walk to the truck. I was about a half mile from the house on my way home. I was hoping he only wanted to check me out and not ram the side of my truck. He/she was a calf not full grown.

Life on a ranch .. 6 miles to pavement, kids are home schooled. All the puppies are adopted out right before calf season, then back to new puppies. That is looking North as I make my way back to the freeway.  It was a nice drive over with all the windows down but by the time I left around 10:30am, it was 101° and the AC was back on.

I love all the scenery in the "Wild West" of Southeastern Arizona.

A Good But Busy Week

You can't tell by Walter's photo but the temps have droppd a little the past week but it's pretty hot and a little muggy by late afternoon when the sun is out of view and we all head out to the patio. This past week was really busy with some things going on in the background. It was still a good week. Positive COVID cases in this town have dropped to 39 as of yesterday after a high of 81 just a month or so ago. I keep forgetting my mask when I go out but do have one in each vehicle.
The new Blogger has decided to act weird today by the way it loaded the images, where everything is left align. Then it will not move the image to center when I click on the icon after highlighting the image. Makes it harder, longer and more frustrating to blog. Heidi is looking better than ever. A very soft healthy coat and a little more energy since her surgery a month ago. She has gone on our daily walks but even though we take them early in the morning we have had to shorten them due to the heat. The tongues of Heidi and Stella determine how far the walk is ... plus their pace.
Stella has decided this summer it's better to sleep inside with the AC on than outside after digging the stones away to get down to the cooler Arizona dirt. Sleeping is her majory activity anymore when she is able to. Walter keeps her pretty busy playing of most of the time defending herself from his tactics.  He keeps her with the workout program.
Still beautiful to wake up to. We are up at the crack of dawn and by the time the hounds are finished eating, their food bowls cleaned and my coffee is made ... the skies have lit up for another day.
By late afternoon it is getting ready for a short rain somewhere. Maybe here maybe not but it looks like Bisbee was getting this afternoon showers a few days ago. The monsoons are getting rid of the deficit we had in total rain this year.
By about 5pm or so the hounds are out for the night while I watch the Red's baseball games on tv. By the sounds of Walter's snoring and how deep Heidi and Stella sleep you would think they have been running around all day. Nothing out of the ordinary routine for them. Heidi sleeps back on her bed in the dark bedroom but will come out for water and trips outside on her own. These two sleep right there until the middle of the night where they venture into the bedroom while I am sleeping.
The cool tile is always a relief for them after a session of wrestling some running and a lot of chewing on each other.
Friday I introduced my '64 VW Panel van to The Diner. I had my usual order but the cup of hot chili seemed hotter than ever. I did notice a few more cut up jalipanoes in there. I fought off the urge for a siesta late afternoon but it was tough and just one job of a retiree. They continue to sit people every other booth or table but the place is nowhere near as full as it use to be any time of day or night. It use to be packed anytime I went there to eat, not anymore.

The other morning I saw this as she mentioned something about breakfast or maybe they saw her making breakfast. That are all eating the mush of kibble and water similar to a smoothie. She said last night that all ten puppies are going out the doggie door on their own and very few mistakes in their sleeping area. In this case he will follow the other hounds and I down the hallway, around the corner and outside when they wake up or with me when he wakes me up in the middle of the night to go out. Walter did not do that and has slept through the night since the first day I brought him home. My pup is in the center of the photo with his nose pointing toward the food.

That is a huge litter is bigger than normal. I've never heard of a basset hound litter having 10 puppies. My pup is in the "10 o'clock" position on the circle of pups. There are a lot of pretty puppies there. A lot of the black color will change to brown like Heidi and the mahoganies will lighten up in color.

Last night I heard my email notification and saw that I had recieved the weekly update of all 10 pups. She takes three photos each. Who would ever think this pup is at the front of everything and in a video just last week was seen trying to chew the leg off of his sister. He was shaking his head trying to tear off the leg. He might give Walter a run for his money when they start playing, yet Walter is much bigger being 5 months older by the time this one walks in the house.
I have explained in recent post why I am buying him now and not later. This will be my 3rd time in 33 years that I have had a combination of 4 hounds. I'm counting Walter as a hound although he isn't by breed but his nose is just as active smashed up against his face. Four is a bit much but I am planning for the future so to speak.

As you'll see nothing was much different Sunday, morning nor afternoon while I was on the computer.

That sure does look like a tongue sticking out over there. Or maybe it's in the normal position but his nose/mouth is too short.  :)

Probably his favorite of his sleeping positions.

A rope bone always makes a good pillow.

He likes cottage cheese but it's not too much fun when  you have to chase the bowl to do it.

She had what was left of the cottage cheese first, then the bowl was given to Walter. Heidi ??? Sleeping in back.

Another successful week here in the "Wild West".
