A New Week Of Great Weather

Yesterday it reached 94° and today we are looking at highs in the low 70's for the next 10 days. Fantastic weather!!! So all the windows are open, nice breeze and our late morning walk had no humidity and no mosquitoes. I cannot imagine this weather for the next 2-3 months. Will it ever get above 85° again?

I decided this morning that I would let Stella do anything she wanted. I knew that might mean that she would disappear again.

I woke up around 7:30am but only to go back to bed and sleep until 9:37am. Therefore our day started later and we didn't take our first walk until after 11am. It is what it is being retired. I feel like I might get something done though today ... maybe clean the bedroom walls, then the other rooms.

Stella did not run today but did some fast trotting. She never moved for the spot that Sadie is standing in. Whatever it was she ate and would not move. That 'eating' is something I cannot figure out.

I did not expect to see Stella when I walked back to the house. Sadie and I continued our morning walk with a nice cool breeze, low temps and bright sunshine.

Sadie always looks to see if Stella is coming. Still she loves this walk and has never walked slowly on any of these walks, rather they be 2 or 3 walks in a day. The path that goes across the top of the field from the north into the deer gully to the house is becoming more worn ... they have ruined this field and I have a feeling it is going to turn into an ATV park.

Sadie still looking for Stella ... no sign of Stella on the horizon.

I never get the AT&T tower ever in focus but it does show how nice of a day it is.

As I started walking to the left to enter the woods to go look for Stella, I saw her in the same spot I left her. I could not believe she was still there.

She was ready to go home though when I called her.

I changed the Nikon settings back to 'JPG-Fine' from 'RAW' ... hard to tell here since they are the same size/quality on the blog but on my computer I could tell a difference in the settings. Do I want to use ~28Mb per photo on my hard drive?

Another great football game last night ... I have a few 'days off' until the games on Friday night.

Football Season Is Here !!!!

Today will be the first full day and night of 2017 college football, starting at noon. I'll be watching football all day and through the late night hours. Last night after midnight I bought gas for the FJ and then headed to Walmart for a weeks worth of groceries. So I am set, yet I don't have a lot of 'snack' food for the games. Times have changed a LOT from a few years ago on Saturdays, which were full fledged overeating.

I was also going to post publicly again this morning and letting the few readers know that I had lost my urge to blog recently and might only be back weekly or a few times in the month. That still might happen today.

Stella showed more energy this morning than she has in many many months. She ran more often, ran faster and I swear I see her gaining weight back around those skinny hip bones that were protruding out just a few months ago. I will keep feeding her the Sportmix kibble, now rated 3.5 stars. (above average).

It was great to see Stella running along side of Sadie to different parts of the field while I walked along the path.

They stayed out in the middle of the field 'grazing' while I headed up to the rolls of hay. Sadie eventually sprinted my direction to catch up with me. She is a great walking hound without a leash.

When I drove by a neighbors house yesterday I glanced over at a small field next to their house and saw these same type of ATV tracks showing where Christopher enters this field from those trees straight ahead. He has made quite a few trips over to the 'deer gully' I told him about last Sunday.

A great, good quality picture of Sadie in the tracking mode. This is one photo I would put on the public blog. Maybe I'll go back to the old format of writing one paragraph and adding about 8-10 photos but ever few days instead of every day.

Stella had walked over to her favorite spot in the field. I was wondering if I was going to have to walk that far to tug on her collar or would she come on her own?

The ATV from Jim's grandkids has really tore up the field this month. It is also much much shorter than last year at this time. Yesterday I looked at my 2016 blog post on the 1st of September. I doubt that they cut the field and bale it this fall.

I started walking her direction calling here ... she raised her head and started slowly walking in my direction.

She will always do her mid-path scratch and then trot to catch up to me.

Well college football in 52 minutes. There are a lot of good games to watch today. Some of them are on at the same time. Maybe next year I'll buy another HD tv for watch multiple games at once. It would look stupid though with a tv mounted on the wall above the one that sits on the table.

Life is back to 'normal' now with College Football starting here in 'the tropics' of Southern Indiana.

Cold Enough For Jeans

By mid-afternoon the inside house temperature was 68°, with a slight breeze and all the windows open. I decided to change from shorts to jeans because it was that cold and was getting uncomfortable . Monday it will be back in the mid 80's for a high. It was a lazy afternoon with a long phone call from a friend, some pasta, a hound walk and a siesta.

It's hard to believe the trees are shedding their leaves already. I think raking leaves may be one of the things I like least to do. I'll rake them multiple times and might burn them in the middle of the driveway again instead of raking all of them up top.

I can't remember the exact year I cut these shrubs down. I had to be have been around 2012 or 2013, after idiot Mike burnt them to the point that they didn't grow back. The thing is, I cut them to ground level. I have lost that much ground in the last 4-5 years due to bank erosion.

All of this tall ragweed will die, turn brown and be dry enough to burn in a few months if not next April.

Stella doesn't like 'wandering' the field but she likes to find deer scat to eat. That is all she does anymore and rarely did that the first year I had her.

If it doesn't rain harder tonight, I will be watering these tomorrow. Not quite dead as I see some new blooms. Will they come back next spring or are they one year wonders?

I cannot believe that this area is the nicest part of the yard after being under heavy brush for 16 years.

Heidi made it outside for a camera shoot.

Tonight will be college football with Washington starting in about an hour. There are a few other games going on at the same time. Then Saturday will be a day full of college football.

Life is good today in 'the tropics' of Southern Indiana.

Feels Like A Friday -- It's Thursday

I guess you can call it my new routine ... normal computer, coffee, morning hound walk ... then 2-egg sandwich with tv news turned on since the hurricane hit SE Texas and then flooding in Houston. Luckily tonight the IU vs OSU game is on at 8pm ... college football is here !!!!

Sadie had a LOT of energy this morning and ran all over the field. She was having fun. Stella even showed more energy than normal. She followed out path until her normal spot in the back part of the field. I have stopped giving her buffered aspirin the past week to see what she do.

I need to make an effort to apply the K9 Klear on a regular basis because I think it helps and works on her 'elephant spots'.

With Sadie way behind us, Stella trotted out in front from the first corner to the spot on the right which is full of deer scat.

Here is Sadie doing some all out sprinting ...

She ran all the way out into the middle of the rear part of the field ... then sprinted over to me by the hay rolls.

It looks like Christopher took my suggestion to check out where the deer enter down into the wooded gully. I never hear his ATV but from this path that was not there yesterday afternoon, he made a lot of trips sometime this morning or late last night. Maybe he is setting up one of his field cameras.

Once Sadie saw where Stella was ... she took off running again ... she got a lot of running in this morning and is now asleep next to my chair right now.

I had to walk over again this morning to tug Stella's collar to get her to move.

This bee is alive and as deep inside the flower as possible.

By the time I got to the corner of the house, Stella was trotting home.

Then she stopped with Sadie ... I thought I might have to go back out into the field to get them.

But she trotted home when I called her name. She is now asleep next to Sadie behind my chair.

It's going to be another good day here in 'the tropics' of Southern Indiana.
