I Started Looking at Smaller Class C & B+

Yes, I moved my search away from Class A's to the Class C 27-31' and even some 27' Class B+ .... I LOVED them!!  I could see me getting away to locations that a Class A may not get. The main thing was, the repair cost. Class A diesel repair compared to a Ford engine Class C or B+ (with sides).

Sure I have the 3 hounds....but I tried a little trick in my house. I measured the living space of a Class B, put the hounds in that area and took a look at what I might be looking at. In a way, I think I could do it....reason is???

If I am parked somewhere out in the boondocks, BLM, Federal Parks or Corp of Civil Engineering land ... I am going to be OUTSIDE!!  Even if Im in a chair looking at the sights, reading or napping. ..... outside!!  I just need somewhere to fix my meals, sleep and watch games on the tv. I can do all of that inside a Class C or B+ and 3 lazy hounds.

What do they do now when I watch games ... they sleep.

I know the tanks are smaller, could decrease the number of days I am out but are larger tanks and more storage space a good reason to spend more for a larger Class A???

I am traveling light ... seriously.  When I was working at home a few years ago, I lived in a pair of jeans in the winter, shorts and tshirts in the summer.

I really like those Dynamax's.  I also like the Jayco Melbourne, like John's.  I can almost see a Lazy Daze, with half of the back room my computer desk and the other side the bed.

Blast away with comments ... I know ... always back and forth

  1. Slowly, but surely your coming around to my way of thinking. The Jayco Melbourne 29c is 31 feet and with the 2 slides you would have plenty of room. Jayco's 2 year warranty is the best in the industry and if you take a long weekend you can run up to Middlebury Indiana and see how they are made. Good luck on making the choice.

  2. Not sure I would want slides from all the bad things I've heard about them. Nothing like being stuck with a slide that won't retract. Happytrails just spent a few unplanned immobile weeks waiting to get theirs fixed.

  3. You should seriously keep Lazy Daze at the top of your list. We've been living in ours 4 years now, and it's holding up well. No slides, so that's one less thing to go wrong. We watched an A trying to get theirs to come out for about an hour the other night with no success. Happy shopping!

    1. I've had a folder for their information since I started this quest back in October.Even with no slides there looks to be a lot of room. I'll keep looking. Thanks for letting me know how long you have full-timed in yours.

  4. I agree - I'm so glad I don't have slides. One less thing to worry about. And I agree about getting a smaller rig. My friend has two greyhounds - she has a 32' Class A - but they are big dogs. They just lay around on their beds when they are inside. I can get my 24 footer into any campsite, I've never tried one that didn't work. And I think the shorter units are easier to level, too, if you don't have levelers built in. I've only had to get out my leveling blocks a few times in over a year, because I can move the rig around in the site until it's level (enough). :)

    1. If I didn't have one large bloodhound and just 2 basset's I think I could get by with a shorter rig. I think I have to plan on at least 27'. Only used your leveling blocks once in a year? That's amazing to me. You always have great shots of where you camp with your rig in the background. Those keep my desire to leave alive.

  5. We love our Lazy Daze, and know of several other couples who do full time in them. Ours is the 31' Twin Bed model and we really like it. The most popular model is the 27', usually with the midbath. Ours is much like that, but with the twin beds in the rear. We have some friends that have lived in their 31' Lazy Daze since they got it several years ago. They have boondocked for many days in it, so that can be done.

  6. Your's really looks sharp. In that RV, I like the model with the twin beds in back. I would take one out and make one side my computer desk for my large monitor and figure out some way the fit my "sports large screen tv" in there. Plus I like all the window it has. I miss that Oregon / Washington area after living 10 years NW of Seattle.

  7. One rig that I really like & hope to find some day is the Jayco Designer. Early 2000 models. The floor plan is great. Nice big bedroom, nice big walk through bathroom -- dog beds could be tossed on the bathroom floor. Wonderful closet space & a nice living area. The dinette is across from the sofa. A friend of mine that likes having company in her rig has her sofa & dinette sitting on the same side of her rig. She says she'd rather have her dinette across from the sofa to make it easier for company to visit with each other. I came really close to getting one last year, but it sold "as is" 20 minutes before I got there. :-(
It was a 31' RV. Mine is a 22' RV. Mine is extremely easy to park. I can park it where most cars fit in rest areas for instance. But I have to be careful if I have to park it anywhere near truck parking because it's small enough to be in danger of truckers (or so I've been told)
Lazy Daze are also very nice quality built rigs.
I also looked at some toy haulers, but the living areas seem to be too cramped/small & cabinet space is greatly minimized. Another one I saw only in photos was the Coachmen Ramp & Camp. Really cool rig. All of what I'm talking about are ClassC's.

    1. Lazy Daze looks like a great RV. Most of the owners that have replied to or emailed me love them. I have a few blogs I am following that travel in Lazy Daze. It looks like I am heading back to the RV idea I had last November, when I ran up to Camping World to JUST LOOK at their large inventory of rigs. One was a 31' Jayco that he said would have not problem towing my 4Runner, which I no longer have.

My problem is, no matter what class, length, or brand name....I like all of them!! LOL
