We did not make any resolutions for 2025 because I found out over the years I never kept them. But Fred out at Out West Bassets looks like he did. Some of you might remember that Fred is Henry's dad. If you go to that link and scroll toward the bottom of the page you might recognize a photo of Henry as a puppy. I sent Michelle a photo of Henry soon after getting him in August 2020, of him sitting in the doorway to the patio in Sierra Vista, AZ.
It was a day and night of college football on New Year's Eve. The hounds and the dogs would rotate over time, which seats they would take to sleep. By 11pm they had taken all of the seats on the couch and love seat that I had to sit on the front of the coffee table to finish watching the movie Ford v Ferrari.
Earlier in the morning before the games started, Walter inspected my project of cleaning the laminate floors with the Bona fiber cloth mop head. He was afraid of the mop, just like he is of my vacuum, new trash bags, my long handle slipper spoon for getting some of my shoes on ... and any sudden movements.
This will have to do during the rainy and snow season. I have another package of spray cleaner just for laminate floors along with a fiber mop that goes with that cleaner. That will clean and put the shine back into the floors this spring. That palm tree in the corner is making a great comeback after Ava destroyed it some time back. Four new shoots that have almost expanded out to a normal leaf with three more new shoots still in the stem format.
This was Watson a little after midnight. Blogger has listed all of my photos in reverse order today.
I was about to get a photo of Walter and Watson sleeping but he woke up just as I pointed the camera at him.
The bloodhound trainer that had Cletus for a couple of months before I picked him up, named him "Reverend Cletus" because he bayed (talked and yelled) so much. He has come a long way from sleeping in the streets as a stray bloodhound last summer. He is the most flexible bloodhound I have ever owned.
As you can see there was no room for me after I walked backed from the bathroom right before midnight. Walter stole my seat when I got up. He wasn't giving it back either.
After walking around sniffing for an open spot on either coach, Ava gave up and decided to sleep on the floor.
Henry found out earlier in the day after he came back inside that his seat was also taken and there was nowhere for him to lay on the couch. He will try to make room and unless I keep telling him "no", he will climb up on another hound or dog on that couch with plans of getting them to move so he can lay down. So after many "no" ... he decided to try Ava's crate since she was on the dog bed just left of him.
Some random thought to leave you with ....
I went back and added the list of blogs I follow to the sidebar. Only this time I didn't stop at five but listed those I read years ago. Al's blog keeps every blog Kelly ever added and they never deleted them even after some stopped blogging. That is how I found a lot of the older blogs I stopped following a few years ago. So if you are interested, take a look at the sidebar and you might find an older blog that use to be your favorite years or months ago.
I was told the other day I needed to get outdoors more for fresh air and exercise. I reminded them I do but not in a way they would think. I get outside, clean the yard, clean and refill the large water bowl at least twice a day. Many times I stand on the patio while the hounds and dogs roam the yard, looking at the trees and sky wondering how I got here. LOL ... that takes care of the fresh air requirement.
For the exercise part of it, my Apple Health app tells me I walk almost 4,000 steps per day inside the house, mostly going to and from the patio door to let the hounds and dogs outside/inside a 100 times per day. I also get some strength training in my bicep as I open that door a 100 times per day ... so I guess I am good about getting fresh air and exercise during the winter months.
I have been a sports fan since the first minute I opened my eyes after birth. Photos prove that dad put a basketball goal on the side of my baby crib and I was at my first IU basketball game before I was a year old. So I was thinking the other day about how the internet has changed all the sports information I still follow.
I use to love getting the paper every day, turning to the sports section to look at MLB box scores and the standings of the American and National Leagues. Then later in the 1980's to see "computerized" rankings for college football and basketball. Now most sports pages in the paper are a few days late with their news and not a score anywhere.
Facebook has been reading my mind again as my news feed is flooded with the advertisement for "Muddy Mats" for dogs and my house. They probably work and it's a great deal to buy two and get one free but they don't realize something very important .... all of my hounds and dogs walk around anything that is in front of them ... from rugs to towels.
After some readers let me know yesterday that they enjoyed my ranting and some liked my political commentary even more ... for a split second I thought that might be a new 2025 blogging idea ... go back to writing more controversial stuff.
The problem with that idea is that, after Biden and Harris leave office on January 20th there will be less to rant about in the political field. Less "brain salad" quotes that I could use. Of course AOC, who went from a broke bartender to a multi-millionaire congresswoman in a few years, always provides something good to write about, so we will see I guess what my brain cells decide to write about.
I cannot complain about the weather so far this winter in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana.
I cannot wait for those idiots to get the heck out of control. Them two have ruined so much of our country, it's just insane. And, with Biden signing all the crapola, I don't think any of it should hold up because here in the REAL WORLD if any of us were to sign legal documents the first thing that would happen would be to say those signed documents were not signed by someone of sound mind!!!!!!!! I can't wait for Trump to take over again...
ReplyDeleteMillions of people agree with you and millions don't. I will be tuned in to the tv on January 20th.
DeleteMe too... And the millions who disagree are America's problems and the reason America is in the mess its in....
DeleteGreat post today! Yes, it was a beautiful day in So Cal today and the parade was a great way to start the day. Really liked sitting in my living room with coffee mug in hand to enjoy it. Have attended several times when I was much younger and more adventurous. Our weather is in the 50's plus during the day and 30's overnight. So far, we had about an inch of snow and not much more in rain fall during early November. Locals are all wondering when winter is coming.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up that was my mom's routine, watching the Rose Bowl parade before turning the tv over to us to watch football. She then kept us well supplied with good food. Today the temps are finally dropping into winter cold temps. Might have some single digits overnight in the next few days. This is Ava's first winter and she does not mind the cold weather.
DeleteIve been watching the huge winter storm headed our way for Sunday night thru Monday. At one time Dayton, OH was forecast for 6" - 12" of snow & Evansville was ground zero for the ice storm. Sure hope they get it wrong - but, something is definitely gonna happen. Stay Safe.!
ReplyDeleteI saw an update last night on weather dot com ... that it will be typical for me ... north of I-64, major snow/storm ... south of Ohio River a lot of ice. Me and the hounds 10 miles south of I-64 and 4 miles north of the river, it said we would get mostly sleet ... I am betting Monday morning the hounds and dogs will run outside first thing in the morning and "slide" across the patio into their rock hard yard.
