I came up with an idea tonight with a brief look back at when the three I have now showed up at the house all as eight week old puppies. The older hounds, except Heidi, played with the pups and acted like they were their own. This is Walter about 15 minutes of exploring his new house.
Stella did not care that Walter wanted her water.
He loved his blanket after playing hard with Stella every morning in the computer room.
That is Henry around two weeks old. I was not able to pick which puppy I wanted until they were four weeks old.
I went out to the ranch to see Henry's litter on two different occasions. Usually arrived right after they had eaten breakfast and were in the nap mode. That is Henry with his head propped up on the water bowl.
This was at 4 weeks old and I picked him because of his color plus he was looking right at me.
He cried and howled as we drove off the ranch.
Walter loved having someone smaller than him to play with. Heidi did not play with anyone but Stella let Walter climb and crawl all over her, pull her ears, everything. So finally Walter had someone to give him some aerobic exercise.
You could tell they were buddies from the start.
Not sure which one is Watson but he is one of the black ones.
He did not mind the hour and a half drive back home.
We didn't have our fence up yet so Henry was tethered to paracord, but that didn't matter. He ran and played like he was leash/tethered free.
Just today Walter put his left paw on Henry's back. I couldn't grab my camera fast enough. He also likes to put his paw on top of Walter's head to get him mad enough to play.
The all step together when they were puppies and sleep together now.
He actually sleeps in that position. It is funny because the day I was talking to the breeder about his puppies and later drove over to see them and buy Watson, he showed me a picture of Watson mom sleeping sitting up in a truck passenger seat after she had been tracking all morning. Just like this.
So they are a good crew of hounds and dog. They get along, all are neutered which has tamed them a little in their territorial rights and what they think is their's.
I am headed out to the patio with a glass of tea. It is a little humid and still 88° at 7:00pm central time but still nice.
Another day of not much going on here in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana.
Wonderful pictures. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
DeleteThat was a fun walk down memory lane. Wish there was a pup that stayed a pup. They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteYes, that would be a nice size if they all stayed pups. Henry is huge, Walter is smaller than he should be and Watson is right on schedule with this growth.
DeleteReally enjoyed all the wonderful photos of the gang of three. Amazing how big each of them are today compared to when you brought them home.
ReplyDeleteWalter and Henry have been here two years already. Watson just a year and had grown a lot in that time frame.
DeleteThat was like looking through a summary of past posts! Ahhh the memories.
ReplyDeleteIt was late, I didn't take any new photos yesterday and decided to go that route.
