Heidi Continues Hibernation
It was close that Heidi might declare "Spring is Here" yesterday as the temps approached 70° but that would have been too early and she knew it. It was "feels like" 28° this morning. She will leave her sleeping bag to eat, take afternoon naps on the couch and a few short trips outside to relieve herself but no sun bathing yet. The bloodhounds of course, don't care about weather.

Back To Warm Weather
The hounds found this morning temperature much warmer than the previous 5 days. They took their first morning walk since January 3rd in 17° weather. It felt like a heat wave. Heidi though still didn't believe it and besides, that is way below her threshold for any time outside longer than to pee. While she slept under her Marmot sleeping bag, the bloodhounds and I took a nice Sunday morning walk.

Heidi Says "No Way"
Heidi was out at 7:30am to relieve herself after a night of sleep but I doubt she will get outside until it warms up a little by late afternoon.

Heidi's Winter Aerobics
She tested the outside temps after lunch, did an immediate turn and headed back inside. Finally after some coaxing around 9pm, she went outside to relieve herself. This is her normal winter activity ... no reason to be alarmed.

The Hounds Battle NW Winds
With the freezing air blowing from the NW at 15-20 mph, the wind chill of 14° was a well deserved rating. Of course there is one hound that has a pretty high temperature threshold for staying any length of time outside, Heidi knew it wasn't 70°.

A Frosty Winter Wonderland
It's only appropriate that the first day of December have some sort of snow or heavy frost. Freezing temps always seem to energize Sadie and Stella. Heidi?? No way ... sound asleep deep inside her Marmot sleeping bag.

The Bloodhounds Were Into Tracking
With the late start we had today, both bloodhounds were high energy by the time we stepped out into the field for the first time. Once they realized the daily morning walk was starting, they both took off sprinting, starting a morning of tracking scents ranging from deer to rabbits. Heidi did her tracking from the couch, 41° isn't hot enough for her.
