It Really Was Unbelievable Move

I was going to post this Thursday night but got involved with some other stuff and didn't have the time to write a post. Then Friday night my new internet service lost connection. They scheduled a tech to come out today of all days and he did a thorough exam from the cable box on the telephone pole, my junction box outside the house and finally in my computer room. He found out it was a splitter they include with the self-install kit. So we are back up and running. I did a Speedtest.org and saw I have 480Mbps download speed and over 20Mbps upload speed ... I have never had that fast of speed ever in my internet days.

Henry spent a little time last week trying to get the very last drop of yogurt ... that container is shared with all three dogs.

Stella not only likes the grass under her feet but the deck to sleep on. I imagine she is pretty happy with the 15-20° decrease in daily highs. We are having an unusual cool spring.

My friends told me anything I did not want, to set it out by the street with a free sign and it would be gone within hours and no longer than a day. The seller of my house left this propane grill and smoker since his is built into the patio of his new (old) house. So a week ago I did just that. It was gone in five hours.

As you can see the hounds have adapted to the new (old) house very well. In fact Walter still demands both of his daily meals to be served in the computer room.

I had my house closing on Thursday afternoon. Nice group of ladies working there and a very nice two story building. I was waiting on some things when the owner brought in a painting of her three dogs and the dogs discussion began. Before long her daughter (sorry can't remember her name) and the lady that led me through the mile high stack of papers to sign, were all talking dogs. Then the surprise came, or a couple of them actually. But the big surprise .... "bring your dogs into the office, we are dog friendly and want to meet them" ... title company ????  I said sure thing but probably one at a time would be best.

Angie handed me two Pork Chomps and assured me there was zero rawhide in them. Needless to say the hounds and the dog went totally insane over them. I stopped in Rural King yesterday to buy them a new package of 10 each. Of course Henry took all three this morning. After a little lecture he let Walter walk into the living room to get his back and let Stella grab hers off the kitchen floor. There was no fighting but he let them know they were all his until I got involved.

Actually I did not mind the internet being down. I had more things to do, places to be and not enough time in a day. It is pretty nice to type in a store or business you are going to into Apple's iPhone map and be led the way. It is easy to get around this small city and so far I have not been involved in any traffic jams.

After the house closing I picked a few things up at Home Depot on the way home. Due to small town political stuff, Chase Bank was unable to open their four branches a few years ago. I have used them as my main bank the past two years. So Friday morning I needed two things ... a new local bank and furniture for my large great room. My living room furniture I brought with me is in the small living room.

Both were accomplished, and I hit the bank first with unbelievable service at the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union. I walked out with checking account, savings account, did a wire transfer and had a debit card printed and activated without asking. Pretty amazing and very impressive.

Furniture was delivered Saturday morning just as I finished my lawn mowing. I thought I'd get that finished before the forecast of rain, which did not show up until today. Friends came over for some pizza and Chess Pie. The furniture store was unlike any furniture store I had seen. Great inventory to choose from, free delivery of course and a free Chess Pie to take home with me. That tasted fantastic with some hot coffee for desert.

Since I have taken a lot of photos I am a little behind in catching the blog up with those photos ... should be some regular blogging for a few days to do that.

Life is good back in "the tropics" at the furthest southern part of the state of Indiana.

  1. Oh Henry! Trying to be the boss or what? He is still the most HANDSOME. His admirer was laughing when he saw him with the treats all to himself. Nice to see those "kids" of yours are well adjusted and looking very, very happy.

    1. Everything is finished so it's back to normal routine. The hounds and even the dog love their grass yard. I have never seen Walter run as much as he has here. I hope to get out now and do some biking and hiking. Photos of some new territory and blog about that.

  3. Our main "bank" has been a credit union for decades (4 of them) and the service has always been personal and friendly. Maybe it's a credit union thing. Though we do also maintain accounts in a bank bank to give ourselves options in case there's another temperary banking crisis like 2007-2008

    1. I am beginning to think the "credit union thing" is real. I had the same experience with the one I had before moving to Arizona. I will keep my bank just like I did before for the same reasons as you do. It is quite a puzzle called customer service.

  4. Glad to see you are getting all settled in with the things you need, and fast internet as well. Happy that the hounds and dog are all taking the changes in stride. They seem to be glad to be there, too. Looking forward to your next batch of photos.
