I'm Going To Foster The Bloodhound

A lot of readers saw my post last night about finding an owner for the bloodhound in Michigan. I had only one comment from Vern out in Idaho telling me he did not have room but hoped she would find a new home. Times are tough right now for dog rescue or adoption. My three local shelters are overflowing with dogs and many are in foster homes.

So this morning the lady that a bloodhound friend gave me her name yesterday, asked about me fostering the hound and she would make all the arrangements to transport her to me at no cost to me or the owner. This is what she does, bloodhound transport. She is into bloodhound SAR and has 4 bloodhounds at her house since 2014 along with a network of people to transport bloodhounds.

I presented the offer to Red's owner, not knowing what she would say. But she wants Red out of the outside elements at night as much as I do. Plus Red is alone all day with people working 9-5:30pm. Ava would keep her busy and Watson would have another large hound to play with like he did with Samson.

She agreed with the arrangement and we agreed too that if I decided to have her adopted to someplace different I would contact her first to see if her situation had changed to take her back ... but we also agreed that if I find out I can handle five in the crew and two bloodhounds and decide to keep her, that she is mine for good.

So as of 9am local time, pieces of the puzzle are being put together to have Red transported to my house.

Never a dull moment in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana ... 😂😂😂😂

    1. Just think I will be able to get that free 40# bag of dog food sooner :) I think she will enjoy it here. I don't know if Ava can beat up on two bloodhounds at once.

    1. I wanted to make sure she had a good home. House dog for 4 years until their divorce, now outside all the and very few people around because they work during the day. Sounds like after the IU game on Saturday she will be arriving. Those are tentative plans right now but close.

    3. I don't have an answer about your name now showing up. I do know on my iMac since their latest update things have been acting weird if you use Safari. I have had to go to Google Chrome to get some websites to work consistently.

    1. She does. Interesting the first volunteer to pick her up, had a puppy that was in Watson's litter in 2021. I remember that Red puppy and told him the only reason I didn't take him ... Watson and his brother sitting on the porch ... when the breeder brought the red puppy out he turned and went sprinting back inside. The breeder when to get him but Watson without me calling him, walked over to me and crawled up on my lap. He chose me, not me choosing the red ... but this one is from a different breeder.

    1. As of this morning transport plans are on thin ice. The left hand was not talking to the right hand and I have not heard an update this morning although I have seen them on Face book. Thank you, they are easy to be kind to.

  5. Hope things work out and if you don't keep her she finds a good home. A neighbor had to go into a nursing home and no one in her family would take her cat. My neighbor called me and ask if I would take her so guess where the cat is. I will come back and haunt my family if they don't take my cats and dog.

    1. Yes, that is a hard thing to set up, hard thing to do and it's my biggest fear that someone would happen to me.

    1. I am sorry to report it did not work out. We were very close. Had two people going to bring her within a 100 miles of the house and I was driving up to pick her up there. I guess things happen for a reason. Sunday morning I will post what happened.
