High Speed Runs & Chases

The past few days the hounds and the dog have been inspecting the other side of the yard. Maybe they know an invisible fence is coming and they will be able to spend some time over there too. It is people that determine which direction they go when they step out of the house. If either neighbor is outside they head that way. Yet, if one of them is mowing their yard, the hounds will sit and watch while the dog sprints back to the patio door to be let inside. They are getting use to the new puppy with similar daily routines. It was nice cool weather today so they spent a lot of time outside while I sat and watched without a camera. LOTS of photos in this post.

Watson is getting taller by the hour. He is finding it is easier to get on the deck since his legs are getting longer. I can also see that when he stands next to my leg he is getting taller. He will grow fast so for those of you that like the puppy size, don't blink.

I stood just inside the opened patio door to watch him without a leash and see what he would do. He was pretty good until he turned that corner to check out the field behind the trees. Once I called his name he came running.

Of course Water had to run over and checkout what all the excitement was about.

He will always come when called.

Late morning naps.

Last night they found their sleeping positions while I watched baseball. It seems strange not seeing a big bloodhound in that corner of the floor.

By late afternoon they were ready to play. The focus was on the one sheet of the pork chomp bone. No growling by Henry, just playing. I will let you enjoy the photos without any commentary.

Unbelievable weather here in the 'tropics' of southern Indiana.

  1. Question Steve: Was Watson named by the breeder or you? Really a great name.

Super photos tonight of the crew. Can't believe how big Henry is compared to when you first got him - also Walter. Watson is going to be all grown up before we know it.

    1. I named him the first day he was here. Thought and tried Jake, no response. Tried Dexter, no response. Later tried Watson and he came running to me. So that was it. Walter and Henrys name was by me but I knew what I was going to call them before I bought them.

Yes Walter is finally filling out that body of his and getting stockier. Henry is just a huge basset hound just like his dad. I have not had him weighed in a long time but will soon at his next vet appt. Same with Walter who goes in tomorrow to get neutered.

  2. Great composition on your photos, Steve. As fast as the pups are growing, you better stock up on dog food, before they eat you out of house and home! LOL Watson was a good name choice. Nice that he always comes when called. Guess he knows who puts out the food!!

    1. I better stock up with dog food just to beat future prices. Yeah he comes now but eventually he will be a true bloodhound and will ignore my calls.

  3. The Wife was asking if that virtual fence you're looking at will work in the other direction too. I think she's wondering if she can use it to keep me out - - - The long (camping-less) summer is hard on both of us!!

    1. If she buys the collar with the transmitter big enough for your neck, and you are trainable ... it is possible to do what she wants. LOL Come up here, as you know there are nice NF and NP in the area if you include southern Illinois.
