Hounds Play The Dog Digs

It was a day of laziness and being distracted. I did nothing. Took the daily siesta after my groceries were delivered. Spent most of the morning up to the siesta at 2pm, refreshing my screen on MLB Trade Rumors website to follow the last day of MLB trading. They can make trades in the future but those players would have to pass their the MLB Waiver system before they could be traded. Meaning all other teams would have to pass on that particular player.

With milder temps I let the hounds and the dog outside to spend about an hour while I caught up on all the baseball news then stepped outside to see what the "damage of the day" was going to be. What I saw was the first picture at the top, two hounds playing like long lost friends. Of course there were no bones to fight over. You will see where they were later in this post.

I did give each hound one bone this morning but only after Watson was left outside and Henry inside.

Walter gets hot easily even at an overcast 84°. When he gets hot outside he likes to dig in the dirt to lay in on the north side of the house in front of the shed. I have put in new lava rock in the corner and then the pavers from "Winston's Patio" along the side of the house where I could not get grass to grow this summer. Of course Walter found a spot to dig and lay in, a small area of dirt between the pavers and the rock. He likes that area north, opposite side of the patio from where the hounds go.

I thought I saw signs of him digging outside but confirmed it once he was inside.

With a light rain last night, the marigolds are hanging in there.

Tonight will be the nightly ritual of Reds baseball on tv. They are winning right now so the interest is there for a full game. In the meantime I am heading back over to Twitter to read how the Chicago Cub fanbase is in shock, rightly so. After today only 4 players left from their 2016 World Series Championship team. Yet they were quite cocky after winning just one World Series in a 100 years. I wonder how many fans show up at Wrigley Field during their multi-year rebuild. Honestly, I hate seeing it happen. Teams do that to cut payroll, increase their profits and call it a game ... when is just business.

A lazy Friday in "the tropics" of Southern Indiana.

  1. Great fun photos of the puppies.

Nice your have baseball to follow this time of year. That was the one sport that did not hold interest to my husband as he felt it was too slow. LOL.

    1. Many feel the same way about baseball and at times it is too slow. My dad was an avid Dodger fan and we would go to all the Dodger games in Cincinnati, quite a drive before the freeway/interstate times.

  2. LOL Henry looking in at the patio door has me think he is telatalking to Walter asking him to open the door. Beautiful dog and hounds for sure.

    1. Henry has really turned into a beautiful basset hound. Walter is still a fan favorite of the neighborhood and the mailman still asks at times to see him during his route when he passes by the house. Watson is going to be a HUGE nice looking Black and Tan.

  3. WAS a Cubs fan all my life until the world series. I could not believe the missed plays, seemed fixed. All that MLB merchandise filling the stands! Plus all the money the Rickets spent to win...... no thanks. I've been done since then. Who wants to pay billionaires to watch millionaires play a game kids play. BH

    1. Took the words right out of my mouth. But my sports addiction prevents me from shutting the games off. I hated when the Ricketts decided to "modernize" not only Wrigley Field but also the area surrounding the stadium. Even the poorly attended Reds still give the owner millions of dollars of profit every year. Hmmm never thought about that game being fixed but you do have a point. I remember some of the strange stuff going on.

  4. When we lived in the city we enjoyed our season tickets to the minor league hockey team but generally I'm not much for professional sports. I connect better with the passion of amateurs than the business of pro's

    1. That is why I like going to the Otter's baseball games. Professional baseball in the Independent league. The city has not only a Firemans hockey team that plays a full schedule but a minor league hockey team. I plan to go to some games this winter. I can't stand to pay the amount of money needed for a decent ticket, plus overpriced parking and the food costs are outrageous so I quit going to pro games.
